This Year’s theme – “Loving Out Loud”
The Grace Covenant Awana program is a life changing program that reaches children and youth for Jesus. Its a blend of bible teaching, scripture memorization, and fun activities. It meets every Wednesday night during the school year. The Cubbies, Sparks, and Flames meet from 6:15pm to 8:20pm and our Torches meet from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. At Awana, your children will find new friends, exciting games, awesome contests and awards. But more importantly, theyll be learning more about God, how he loves them and has a purpose for their life. Kelly Gibson leads this program and can be reached at 303-989-3409.
The Cubbies club is for preschoolers who are 2 years or less from their kindergarten year. They play games, make crafts, memorize verses & learn about Gods perfect gift in His Son, Jesus Christ. Its amazing to see how much these little Cubbies can do and learn. The Cubbies program is designed for parents to work closely with their child. Each week one bear hug section in the handbook is done at home so when your Cubbie comes to club he/she is ready to remember, review and recite their verse. Some special events for Cubbies throughout the year are a Cubbie Bear Tea Party, Cubbie Bear Picnic, Matchbox Grand Prix, and the Barnyard Animal Movie Drive-in. Parents are always welcome at Cubbies.
The Sparks Club is comprised of kindergarten through second grade children. This is a crucial age for hiding Gods word in their hearts, and it brings the children pure joy. Its amazing to listen to Gods word flow from their mouths. They play games, memorize scriptures, meet new friends, and discover the wondrous love of Jesus Christ. Sparks enjoy getting jewels for their vests as they memorize Gods word. In addition to regular activities, Sparks have a Drive-In Movie Night where they make cardboard cars and watch a movie in the gym, a Matchbox Grand Prix in which they bring cars and race them down a track, a chance to compete with other clubs at the Metro Area Awana Games, and even a chance to throw a pie in the face of their favorite leader.
The Flames Truth and Training Club is our fastest growing club and is made up of 3rd through 6th grade kids. They have a great time playing games, memorizing Gods Word and learning how to Walk with Jesus Daily. Its incredible to hear the stories of how these kids stand up for Jesus in school, at home, and with their friends.
In addition to regular activities, Flames have a talent show in which they show off the gifts God has given them. They also apply Gods word by participating in service activities. In October, they too get a chance to throw a pie in their favorite leaders face. They create and race pine cars in the Grand Prix, and compete against other AWANA clubs in the Metro-Area Bible Quiz and Pacer Challenge. Those on track to finish their handbook by year-end also attend the One Book Cub Club (their favorite!).
Torches are 7th to 12th grade teens ready for a deeper commitment in serving God. The Torch program is the next level of the worldwide AWANA program. Our program leaders are committed Christians with hearts to disciple and mentor teens. The Torches serve as leaders-in-training for the Cubbies & Sparks programs, as well as memorize scripture, play games, participate on ministry teams and in small groups. They have fellowship activities, evangelistic opportunities and service projects during the year. They also have monthly activities such as Laser Tag, Cosmic Bowling, Game Nights, and Overnighters. The Torches compete in the Front Range Game Quest (a combination of Olympic Games and Bible Quiz) and travel to Summit USA in April. The Torch Program is not an open youth group. Due to mentoring levels and their work with younger children, Torches are accepted by application only.
